The coolest chic environmental engineers...knit while watching the Superbowl
After a two month hiatus from my blog, I finally have a good picture and the motivation to post. We had our annual Superbowl party last weekend. It's one of the few times a year where the men and women in our little social circle assume our stereotypical gender roles. The husbands watch the game on the fancy high definition TV downstairs in Jeff's man land where they drink beer, grunt, and talk about how amazing HD sports + surround sound can be. The wives watch the commercials upstairs and have girl talk. I could say we watched the kid but she spent most of the night in man land with the cats and fish so it wasn't totally Donna Reed...but we made our best 21st century effort with an impromptu knitting circle during the game. Cathy has been knitting furiously since her recently foot surgery landed her on the couch for a few weeks, no walking allowed. Rachel got her first knitting lesson while she was on Cathy-care duty the day of the surgery and the lessons continued during the game. Its too bad getting a PhD is only a temporary lay over, allbeit a long one, which means we're gonna be spread all over the country pretty soon. Cathy will be the first to leave our little college town for bigger, better things in Boston. Its hard to believe we've been here for more than five years already but I guess we all have to join the real world at some point. Some of us have just been really good at avoiding it for a long time. Three cheers for graduate school!
